“For you it is milk. For your baby, life”
The first week of August is celebrated in more than 170 countries as World Breastfeeding Week, aimed at improving the health of babies around the world.
Breast milk is the best food we can give to our baby because…
It contains all the nutrients, antibodies and immune factors necessary for development, and also helps children maintain good health in adulthood and thus avoid many diseases that could have affected them if it had not been for breast milk.
The mother's benefit in this process is also of great importance: her recovery will be quicker, she will be able to avoid certain illnesses and, above all, the special bond that mother and child have had during the previous nine months will be strengthened.
Children breastfed for seven to nine months have an average IQ six points higher than children breastfed for less than a month. Breastfeeding also helps mothers lose weight and reduces their risk of breast and ovarian cancer, as well as type 2 diabetes.
