March 22
WORLD WATER DAY
United Nations adopted this day to raise awareness among the world's population about the importance of water for life, humans and the planet.
The campaign for this day focuses on taking care of water, not wasting it unnecessarily and - above all - not polluting it.
Children learn by imitation, especially from people around them whom they consider role models. Therefore, environmental education begins with ourselves.
If children see us throwing rubbish on the street, or leaving the lights on or the taps running unnecessarily, they will do the same. Turning off the tap and not showering too much, or turning off electrical appliances or lights when they are not in use, are basic habits that children find difficult to internalise.
Food waste has a significant environmental impact. Therefore, it is very important to instil nutritional values that are not only healthy but also ecological, such as not throwing away food, eating seasonal products or avoiding products with excessive packaging.
Let's take care of the world we live in.
