Spanish and Literature as a Subject encourages students to grow as users of our native language by growing in their mastery of language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
We want to encourage the use of the mother tongue as an instrument of communication and representation. This involves understanding oral and written messages and coherent, cohesive, correct and appropriate expression. To do this, we seek to strengthen the reading habit in them and to deepen their systematic reflection on language.
Through literary reading, we seek to develop critical thinking skills and to recognize the reader's relationship with a tradition and a culture. By exploring literary procedures, we invite them to recognize literature as an expression of the personal world and aesthetic enjoyment, as well as a cultural product that is framed in a specific social and historical context that awaits to be known and valued.
